property of http://www.thespotbg.com/Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century.  His goal was to realise each person’s physical capabilities and limitations alongside prescribing exercises to correct their muscular imbalances and weaknesses through a system of exercises which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body.  His belief was that mental and physical health are inter-related.

Pilates works hand in hand with Osteo, Physio and Chiropractor treatments. I have experience of integrating a Pilates routine to support this kind of rehab by working with the relevant practitioner, ultimately speeding up recovery, significantly reducing and relieving symptoms.  A regular routine of Pilates wether for general health and exercise or as a part of a rehab regime is necessary to feel the benefits.  Poor posture, the way we move and muscular imbalances can lead to pain and injury, or can be as a result of habit, injury or accident.  By targeting the deep abdominal and spinal muscles Pilates aims to improve overall core stability and posture and correct the muscle imbalances through exercise, leaving you looking better and feeling strengthened and streamlined without building bulk or stressing joints.  It makes it the perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise, athletic training or rehabilitation.

In 2015 I became a STOTTPILATES® Certified Instructor, Matwork Pilates (Essential, Intermediate and Advanced); and also STOTTPILATES® pre and post natal certified. I will work with you to help you have a greater understanding of your body, your muscles, and how to exercise your body to achieve balance you specifically require.
